Assessing the Climate Resilience of Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA): A Metric-Based Approach

The impacts of climate change have resulted in the emergence resilience as de factor framework for countries seeking to capture differential and uneven ability prepare, react, respond cope with volatile rapid changes climate-related stresses. Despite being considered by many researchers most vulnerable region negative effects change, Sub-Saharan Africa has not been extensively studied. Using (SSA) a study area, this paper constructed pragmatically based metric called composite national index (CNCRI) that can be used tool policy word. inherent variables construct CNCRI were justified measure SSA on five different dimensions. result indicates score, 1.05 (least resilient) 44.8 (most resilient), island Mauritius, Seychelles, Cape Verde are comparatively more resilient than rest area. Regionally, Southern is compared East, West, Central Africa. vulnerability readiness suggested only country low high readiness, while making them least needing urgent mitigation adaptation actions.
